EEG-EMG Services

What is EEG EMG Services?
EEG – EMG services are highly preferred for checking health status. EMG is used as an abbreviation for the word electromyography. This application is used in November for muscle and nerve examination. This examination is performed by sending a warning to the nerve conduction system. To do this, we use a needle, which is disposable. You can have this procedure performed easily at our Safir Lab health center.
An EEG is performed to measure brain function. This process is very important, especially in the detection of cerebral diseases. In addition to this, it is also a method that we use in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal cord disorders.
We easily perform screening and control tests with technological equipment and expert personnel in our health center. In this context, also eeg emg services is carried out.
Electromyography (EMG) is a form of electrodiagnostic test used to study nerve and November functions. It is usually done by a physical therapist or neurologist who has received special training for this procedure.
The EMG nerve test can provide your doctor with specific information about the extent of the nerve and/or muscle injury, and November can also determine the exact location of the injury and give some indications of whether the damage is reversible.
EMG actually has two parts:
- Nerve conduction study – Nerves are stimulated at different points with small electric shocks and artificially activated so that their functions can be measured.
- November Needle examination for muscle testing – Very thin needles are inserted into several November muscles. Each needle has a microscopic electrode that collects both normal and abnormal electrical signals given November by a muscle.
What Needs to be Done Before EMG
There are some situations that need to be done and paid attention to before the EMG procedure. First of all, you need to be full before the procedure.
In addition, the documents written by the doctor should also be with you. It is also necessary to pay attention to keeping your body clean and wearing comfortable clothes. Jul. In addition, jewelry and similar things need to be removed, as is the case with screening tests in general.
At the same time, it is expected that people who have previously had the same scan will also bring their old results. You must be at our health center 15 minutes before the time you make an appointment for EEG – EMG services.
The EMG test is extremely safe, but if you are taking blood thinners, using a pacemaker, or using an implanted defibrillator, talk to your doctor before taking the test. There is no need for special preparation for people who have a hip, knee or other joint replacement.
- If you are taking anticoagulation drugs (blood thinners) or using a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator, you should inform their doctor before taking the test. In general, these conditions do not cause any complications and you can safely have an EMG test.
- Unlike preparing for dental procedures or certain types of surgery by taking antibiotics, no special preparation is required in patients who have a joint replacement or another artificial implant in their body.
- You should take the medications you normally use on the day of the test.
The EMG test is very safe. EMG needles are used only for one patient, are not recycled and are discarded immediately after use.
What is an EEG?
The brain is one of the most important organs for human life. The examination performed to study the function and functions of the brain is called an EEG.
This examination is needed to detect any disease that has a negative effect on brain activity. At the same time, if the person is constantly having fainting problems, we also perform this examination.
In addition, an EEG is performed to check this in case of brain trauma in various accidents. We are serving you with different EEG methods in our health center.
This examination is needed in order to detect many problems related to your brain. As Safir Lab, we help you with EEG – EMG services and provide diagnosis and treatment for your health problems.
An EEG (electroencephalogram) measures the activity of your brain. Brain activity can help your healthcare professional diagnose and monitor brain-related conditions such as epilepsy.
If you have symptoms such as seizures or confusion, your healthcare provider may order an EEG. The EEG is safe and painless.
An EEG (electroencephalogram) measures and records the electrical signals of your brain. During an EEG, a technician inserts small metal discs (electrodes) into your scalp.
The electrodes are connected to a machine that informs your healthcare professional about the activity of your brain. Brain activity can help your provider diagnose and monitor conditions that affect your brain.
Most commonly, healthcare providers use an EEG to check seizure activity related to epilepsy.
EEGs can also help monitor health conditions or find out what is causing certain symptoms.
Healthcare providers can use an EEG to test the brain activity of someone who is in a coma or during brain surgery.
EEGs can also check brain-related conditions, such as those we have mentioned:
- Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
- Brain damage.
- Infections, including encephalitis.
- Tumors.
EEGs help diagnose the causes of symptoms such as:
- Confusion, confusion.
- Fainting (syncope).
- Memory loss.
- Seizures.
A specially trained EEG technician performs the procedure. You may have an outpatient laboratory or inpatient EEG according to the instructions of your healthcare provider.
Some EEG tests record the activity of your brain while you are doing your usual activities with an ambulatory device.
There are several types of EEG tests:
- Routine EEG: Routine EEG scans take 23 minutes. Your EEG technologist may ask you to breathe differently or look at flashing lights during the procedure.< / li>
- Prolonged EEG: A long EEG test usually takes an hour and 15 minutes, but some types can take several days. An extended EEG gives your healthcare provider more information than a routine EEG. Your provider may use a long-term EEG test to diagnose or manage seizure disorders. Long-term EEGs use video.< / li>
- Standing EEG: Standing EEGs last from one to three days. Standing EEGs are performed at home or in an EEG monitoring unit. During a traveling EEG, the electrodes are connected to a small EEG recorder. While the machine monitors your brain activity, you can do most of your daily activities. If there is a seizure or event that your healthcare provider is trying to catch, you or your family member can press a button.< / li>
- Video EEG: The technician records your video during your EEG. Video recording helps your healthcare professional see and hear what you are doing when you have a seizure or other brain event. Your provider may also refer to this test as EEG monitoring, EEG telemetry, or video EEG monitoring.< / li>
- Sleep EEG: A technician performs an EEG test while you are sleeping. Healthcare providers may request sleep EEGs if a routine EEG does not provide enough information. With a sleep disorders center, you can have a sleep study to test for sleep disorders.< / li>
Situations Where EMG is Required
EMG is an examination that may be needed in many cases. Basically, this process is applied in the measurement of peripheral nerves.
We perform this examination by examining the movement nerves in our health center. Within the scope of our examination, we provide evaluation of both sensory nerves and sensory nerves.
In this direction, the tests become more understandable. Safir Lab performs this examination within the scope of EEG – EMG services of our health center.
The situations in which the EMG test helps in diagnosis are as follows:
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Nerve compression
- Radiculopathy
- Sciatica
- Neuropathies
- November diseases
- November dystrophy
- ALS (formerly Lou Gehrig’s disease)
- Myasthenia gravis
Your doctor may order an EMG test if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Numbness
- Decreased feeling
- Tingling or frequent needle pricking sensation
- Radiating pain or burning sensation
- Muscles November spasm or weak
- Difficulty performing daily tasks such as walking, buttoning clothes, or holding objects
What Needs to be Done Before the EEG
The process of examining brain waves both in a sleeping and waking state is called EEG. The conditions in which it is used the most can be shown as epilepsy, intense headaches and nervous diseases.
In these cases, we perform EEG shots to our patients for research purposes. The shooting process is carried out using magnetic waves.
It is also a procedure that is needed in case you have problems such as fainting. Patients should follow the instructions we indicated before the shooting.
Our health center gives you detailed information about what you need to comply with before EEG – EMG services.
To prepare for the EEG:
- Wash your hair the night before your EEG. (Then don’t use anything like conditioner or styling product afterwards.)
- Eight hours before the test, avoid foods or drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee, black tea, or energy drinks.
- Follow the instructions of your healthcare professional, including changes to the medication.
- You should not be hungry, your stomach should be full.
- In case of shooting during the day, it is necessary to get good sleep.
- If you have an old EEG report, you should share it with us.
If the people who will receive services from our health center comply with the instructions given, the examinations are performed both comfortably and smoothly.
For this reason, you should follow the instructions of our expert medical personnel. Some people may feel dizzy when they take deep breaths during an EEG.
There is a small risk of seizures during the EEG. If this happens, your healthcare professional is there to help.
How is the EEG Shot Performed?
The data is recorded by the computer while the EEG is being taken. As a result of the records, reports are put forward and our specialist physicians examine these reports. Later, if you have a health problem, we will detect it.
EEG shooting is performed by the following stages:
- You lie on a comfortable bed.
- A technician places about 23 electrodes on your scalp with glue or paste.
- You relax with your eyes open or closed.
- During these activation procedures, you can look at a bright light or breathe differently to see if there are changes in your brain.
- If you have a seizure, the technologist will note the activity in the log.
- During routine EEGs, the technician will record for 23 minutes and make an effort to achieve at least some drowsiness or sleep. During an EEG that spans multiple hours, they try to get a longer sleep record and record the study for one hour and 15 minutes.
- During a traveling EEG, you usually go home and resume your usual activities. You need to be carrying or wearing a portable EEG recorder for one to three days.
After your EEG, the technician will remove the electrodes and clean your scalp. Your hair and skin may feel sticky, so you will want to wash your hair at home.
Unless our medical staff tells you not to, you can drive and return to your normal activities.
Our medical staff will review the brain wave patterns identified by your EEG. The test results identify the patterns as normal or abnormal.
There are different causes of abnormal patterns, for example:
- Alcoholism or substance use disorders (drug use)
- Bleeding in the brain.
- Brain swelling (edema).
- Brain tumor.
- Head injury.
- Migraine.
- Seizure disorder such as epilepsy
- Sleep disorder such as sleep apnea or narcolepsy.
- Paralysis.
